July, 2007
Gustav is getting bigger. He is already biking like a champ. He is making progress in swim school and he
is kicking the soccer ball harder than dad. Life is up. He is starting his second year in his pre-school in the
fall. He will be in the "Bryggan" group that will be housed in a church (for space reasons).
March 13th, 2006
Gustav is very excited to move to Sweden. He has been promised his own room and he is looking forward to having
his own computer. He talks about Sweden every day and can't wait to meet his Swedish relatives. He is a little
concerned about leaving Noah and Davis at school. He would like to bring them along. He doesn't believe us when
we tell him that the cars and even blue-blue will make the trip.
August 24, 2005
In 2 short weeks Gustav will begin his second year of school. It is hard to believe. I vividly remember the
first day when they peeled him off of me in hysterics. I am pretty sure this year will be different. Oh I hope
so!
Gustav has made good use of his summer. Learning to swim, bike and count. Now we just need to learn how to
swim without wings and bike without training wheels, but everthing in time. The most important thing he has learned
this summer is to stay dry, day and night.
Our little guy has such a good memory and he will hold you to things. Before we went on vacation I told him that
when we came back mommy would teach him how to stay dry at night. Well the first night we came back from vacation I
went to put training pants on him and he said no mommy remember you said you would teach me how to stay dry. So on went
the water proof matress pad and away we went. We have had amazingly few accidents and none for a week now. He
is truly an amazing little boy.
He is so cute with his brothers and so helpful. Of course he has his moments, and will try anything and everything
to stay-up later. But you can't blame him for trying. He got his hair cut last weekend and he looks like a real little
boy now. He isn't a baby anymore. Sniff sniff. Well we will update more when he has his first day of school.

Well only 2 more days of school for our big boy and then off for 2 weeks to play with Farmor and then off to summer camp.
Gustav's only mandate for the summer will be to have fun and act like a 3 year old. He has already mastered the staying
dry step. We went to underwear on May 31 and he has remained dry ever since. We are so proud of him.
He is really turning into a sweet, funny little man.
March 15 2005
Gustav is about to turn three in a few weeks. He is turning in to rather likeable little boy. His two language
focus is going really well. He speaks English at school and Swedish at home. He is getting really good at switching
back and forth.
I energy level is a lot higher now compared to only a few eeks ago. The naps are getting shorter and the running
at full throttle mode is getting more frequent. I'll write an update after his birthday party.
Cheers Dad

Not much has happened since the last entry seven month ago. Gustav has transformed from a baby to a little boy.
His month is full of teeth. He eats everything that we eat. He had his first Christmas and his first birthday.
He played in the snow, he flew to Oregon, he learned to crawl, he went with dad to work........
So as you can see, not much to report :-)
September 30, 2002
Well it is back to work as usual, and Gustav starts his second full week with Helen. They seem to be getting along
well and they have already ventured out together into town. People at work have finally gotten to meet Gustav.
He was so happy smiling at everyone when Helen brought him in.
We just got back from the Poconos yesterday afternoon. We spent the weekend there, goofing around and drying off
from the drive-up. We tie-dyed shirts, we even did one for Gustav, they were so cool, and then we threw them into the
dryer to dry, big mistake..HUGE. They all tossed around and came out the exact same color; a watered down purple color.
They look like a commune uniform. Our trip home was uneventful but our trip to the poconos was rather interesting.
We left home at about 7:30 and pulled into the parking lot at about 10:15. About 1/2 hour before we got to the mountain
(hills) it started to rain unbelievably hard. We kept driving but it was dark and very hard to see. Then Gustav
swallowed down the wrong pipe and began to choke, he has done this before so I wasn't too worried but then he started to throw-up
and throw-up he did for what seemed like forever, all overhimself and the car seat. It was a real mess. It meant
an immediate bath for Gustav and thank goodness the place we were staying at had a washer and dryer because the car
seat needed a total washing and so did Gustav. An hour later everyone and thing was clean on drying out and hungry.
We got McDonalds and Gustav got the usual. Then it was off to our very uncomfortable beds. But the next morning
we woke with the sunshine and had a great weekend. We took Gustav to Bushkill falls but he wasn't too impressed and
fell asleep immediately. Check out the pictures. Jen-

I can't believe in 2 days my little baby will be 5 months old. It seems unbelievable to me that so much time has
passed already. Time really does fly when you are having fun. Well yesterday Helen called me and let me know that
her visa came, so now we are just waiting until the 19th for her to arrive. That will definitely change things at home,
but we are looking forward to it. It is funny how much I have come to rely on Gunilla at home. She is cleaning,
watering the plants and doing the laundry all while taking care of Gustav and BlueBlue, that of course will change when she
is gone. I am going to have to be much more efficient! Ugh!!
Yesterday Gustav had his first taste of real food, if banana cereal can be called real food. He seemed to love it, but
couldn't figure out how to open his mouth. He is so patient and let me just smear it all over him. Farmor was
a little better at feeding him and actually got his mouth open a couple of times. He is sitting up so well in his
high chair, it still blows my mind that some day he will be to big for it, because right now he looks so small in it.
It was really fun feeding him, but we only gave him a little because we didn't want to give him a bad tummy.
Gustav is rolling like a champ now from back to front, though I don't think he is quite ready for the other direction.
It is now time to make sure the crib rail is always up, as he is spinning around and playing in the crib.
He has two teeth now and, although we bought him 2 teething rings, nothing is as good as mom or dad's fingers or his
clothes. All his shirts have a big wet suck spot on them. I never thought I would find a saliva soaked shirt so
sweet! Being a mom is full of amazing things. I am so in love with my son. Jen-

I can't believe Gustav is 4 months old today. Time is flying by so quickly. It is almost scary how much he
changes every day. Sometimes when I come home from work I swear he has changed dramatically. Gustav has a new
sound it is somewhere between a screech and a scream and he has all of us trying to guess if he is happy or not. We
must be an interesting site three adults (Farmor, Dad and Mom) all sitting around trying to figure out if we should pick him
up or not. I am guessing Gustav is getting a kick out of watching our confusion. He seems to use different tones
of this screech to mean different things, but no matter what it means it gets our attention as he hasn't learned what "inside
voices" are yet! Last night Gustav and I took a bath together and we both enjoyed that a lot. He is learning to
relax much more in the water and have some fun. He has now almost completely outgrown his 3-6 month clothes, with the
exceptions of a few generous onsies and some sleepers without feet. He is keeping Farmor very busy during the day with
all of the regular routine plus he has added throwing-up to his repitoir so Farmor is spending a lot of time doing laundry.
She is becoming a regular laundry lady, much to her dismay. He is still sleeping like an angel at night and in fact
I have to wake him up in the morning just so I can see him and make sure he gets fed. We are loving every minute with
him and we can't wait for his aupair Helen to arrive (although we will be sad to see Farmor go) so we can share the fun with
yet another person. Life is good in the Cederwall home right now we feel incredibly blessed. Jen-

Today is Farmor's birthday and her reward is to be solely responsible for Gustav. I am back at work today and it
feels great. Especially knowing that Gunilla will be there to take care of him for at least a little while. He
was so happy this morning and when I left he was asleep. I can't wait to go home to see him but I am happy at work,
it feels like I never left. I am hoping to be a little busier then I am now, but for now it is nice to be back at work
and although I miss Gustav dearly, I think I will appreciate my time with him more now that I am away more. I brought
lots of pictures with me to keep him in my eye even when we aren't together. Jen-

Well Oregon has come and gone, it is hard to believe
that it went so quickly. Gustav and I are exhausted, but we had a great time
with all of our cousins and nieces and nephews. I don’t think Gustav spent
any time alone during the entire trip, but everyone keeps telling me that you can’t spoil a baby at this age. I am counting on that! Now we have to start making arrangements
for me to go back to work. It is unbelievable that my maternity leave is almost
over. We weighed in today and Gustav weighed 13 lbs. It is none of your business what I weighed! (hee-hee) Gustav is starting to grow out of some of his zero-to-three-month clothes. He is getting too tall for them though certainly not to fat for them.
So far he only has one extra chin, but he is working on it. In a couple
of weeks Farmor is coming to visit and we are working on being on our best behavior for her.
We can’t wait. Well it is time for a nap, even I might get in on
the nap action today. We have been staying up late to watch the world cup
and there are two games tomorrow starting at 2:30 am, so we need our beauty sleep. Maybe
Gustav will wear his new soccer outfit while watching. Jen-

Gustav is 1 month old today
and it is Mother's Day. What a great day! I still can't believe we have a son. I look in his room and see
his clothes hanging there and I realize that Gustav is here; we aren't waiting for him any longer. He is here.
It is just that he doesn't really seem like a person yet so it is hard to believe. I still call him "it" or the "baby."
It is hard to believe we have a son, a Gustav Nils. It is pretty cool despite the lack of sleep. Actually Gustav
(not "Gus") is an angel, he really only cries when he is hungry or wet, so there are only two things to check. When
they both are taken care of, then you know it is a 5-minute rocking and he is asleep. He sleeps best outside in his
stroller/pram, but then again who wouldn't. I think I got my first smile from him yesterday, of course Göran isn't so
sure about it but I will call it my smile! Well happy Mothers' Day to all the mothers out there, it is funny but I feel
like calling every mother I know and wishing them a happy Mothers' Day, it must be the hormones! Jen-

Wow time flies when you have
a baby. I can never seem to find time to post a message. Gustav is asleep in his baby björn right now so I have
a few minutes. Things have been a little crazy around here. Gustav has been working on nursing and it has not
been easy for him or me. It is a lot of work this breastfeeding thing. Gustav seems to think what you do is wait
5 or 6 hours and then eat for 2 or 3 hours. I would of course prefer maybe every 3 hours and then nurse for 30
minutes. We are trying to find a happy medium. The doctor would like me to wake him at night to nurse, but I am
thinking let sleeping babies lye, except during the day so I will try that first before I start waking him at night.
He has begun to gain weight and that is good, now if we could get him to gain a little faster I think we would all be a lot
happier. Well BlueBlue is in need of attention so I had better go. I will write more later. Jen-

We
are finally home. After almost a week in the hospital Gustav and I are home. Gustav spent the first week of his
life in what is called the "special care nursery." It seems that our little Gustav inhaled a little amniotic fluid on
his way out into the world and as a result had a few problems. He is fine now though and we are home with a monitor
just for safety sake. He is being great and keeping me and Göran on our toes. Right now (6 pm EDT) he is sleeping
like an angel, which he does most of the time. He sleeps for 4+ hours at a time usually, making us truly lucky parents
of a new born.
I am in love with everything
about him and think he looks like his dad 100% (except for hair color). What do you think? I think he even
has dad's feet, thankfully not dad's toes. He certainly has his legs. Everytime I wrap him up those little legs find
their way out of the blanket as they are just too darn long. Well my new master is calling so I had better go.
We will update you as often as we can.
April 12, 2002 11:40 PM
Gustav has finally arrived. Mother and child are doing good. Gustav
still has some fluid in his lungs, so he is being watched carefully over the weekend. We will add some more news about
our first born son as soon as we get some ZZzzzleep.

Today
is my first entry in the Cassandra Journal. It is really a chance for me to complain
or just ramble on about what is going on with this little, or not so little, creature inside me. We are ready but apparently no one has told Cassandra that. As
of yesterday we have car seat in place, labor bag packed and even (for the most part) the nursery set up. I thought we would be one of those couples that gets everything done last minute, but here we sit and wait.
I have to admit I never thought I would actually carry this baby this long. Not because anything was wrong, in fact just the opposite it has been a very easy
pregnancy. I just figured, for no good reason, that I would have it early. Well there isn't much time left for that with the baby due in exactly 1 week. I think I am doomed to be one of those people who are lucky enough to go over my due
date! I really hope not as this baby is big enough already.
If I go over we may have to return those newborn diapers and clothes (10 lbs and
under) and move right on to stage two. Oh how I hope not! Somehow the idea of
a 10 lb. baby isn't that appealing. Maybe you can understand my position! Well I should save some news for tomorrow, but as of today Cassandra is showing
no real interest in joining us. Tuesday is our next appointment; well see what
the doctor says.
